Membership Overview |
Membership in the National Water Resources Association (NWRA) is generally achieved through one of three methods under the association's bylaws - through state association affiliation, issue caucus affiliation, or Independent affiliation. Under the State Association approach, water resource organizations operating at the state level agree to affiliate with NWRA as a representative organization of the state in which it operates. While the affiliated State Association is technically the dues paying NWRA member, any individual, professional services firm, or water provider that is a member of an NWRA affiliated State Association, may by extension participate in NWRA as a member of NWRA. The Caucus approach involves NWRA approved issue Caucuses that affiliate with the association in the pursuit of common policy objectives. Similar to the state association approach, while the individual Caucus is technically the dues paying NWRA member, any individual, professional services firm, or water provider that is a member of an NWRA affiliated Caucus, may by extension participate in NWRA as a member of NWRA. Finally, NWRA also offers the opportunity for Independent membership in the association, allowing water sector oriented businesses to participate in and support the association's policies and pursuits. Each of the three membership approaches allow for their representation on the NWRA Board of Directors, thus giving a voice to their respective category in the operations and ventures of the association. Members can also engage in NWRA operations and activities through participation in a wide range of committees and task forces that are maintained by the association This unique format provides for a large and diverse membership which provides NWRA with information and feedback related to water policy that includes emphasis on irrigation, municipal, and hydropower water related matters. |
