Annual Conference Award and Recognition Program The water community is made up of dedicated professionals working to secure water for generations to come. The National Water Resources Association (NWRA) is eager to recognize the contributions of water professionals that go above and beyond the call of duty in the service of the nations’s water users and this association. Below are the award types that NWRA annually bestows on deserving individuals. NWRA Water Statesman Award Reserved for a nationally recognized individualor organization that has made significant contributions to the advancement of sound water resources policy, water management and water conservation that are in keeping with the goals and objectives of NWRA. NWRA Distinguished Service Award Recognizes the contributions of individuals in government and business who may lack the national prominence to be selected for the Water Statesman Award, but who have also made significant contributions in water resources management in keeping with the goals and objectives of NWRA. NWRA Lifetime Achievement Award Recognizes those who have actively served in the leadership of the association for many years and who, by their activities and service to the goals and objective of the association, merit Life Member status. NWRA John M. Sayre Leadership Award Recognizes an individual or entity whose service and leadership went above and beyond the norm in promoting the goals and objectives of NWRA. NWRA John F. Sullivan/G. Thomas Choules Water Policy Award Given to an individual whose service to the association, in promoting its legislative/regulatory/judicial agenda, was above and beyond that expected of a member of the leadership.
NWRA Legacy Award Given to an individual for exemplary service, leadership, and mentorship to the association throughout a career that shaped the association and benefitted the water resources industry west wide.
NWRA Water Buffalo Award Reserved for an individual who is so respected by their peers for their knowledge and force of personality in the water business as to be referred to as a "Water Buffalo."
NWRA James W. Trull Presidents Award (Only nominated by sitting NWRA President) Bestowed on those recognized specifically by the sitting NWRA President for having provided exceptional service to the industry, the association, and the president, in fulfilling NWRA’s mission.
